I’ve just spent the last two days in Bangkok doing everything a pregnant person shouldn’t do. Most women do a leisurely babymoon somewhere relaxing like Krabi or Maldives but I’m the sort to traipse all over Bangkok with my 30-week pregnant belly. Incidentally, the last time I was in Bangkok was 4 years ago, when I was seven months pregnant with Truett. It’s like a rite of passage every male child I have goes through.
Finn hasn’t been happy with all the commotion the past couple of days and he’s been making his displeasure felt by kicking me in the bladder throughout the night when I’m trying to sleep.
It’s been thoroughly enjoyable though. Great food, fantastic shopping and very satisfying Thai massages.
One of our favorite discoveries this trip was Asiatique, a night market bazaar by the pier that has the ambience of Santa Monica Boulevard. It had a very nice vibe, with a mixture of slightly pricier local designer items and cheap finds.
Being the hardcore shoppers that we are, we’ve been walking for like 10 hours everyday (with maybe 2-3 short breaks in between) so I’ve basically lost all feeling in my feet. But looking at all the stuff we got, totally worth it.

nice, that asiatique place looks really awesome!! relaxing babymoons are for wimps haha! we went on a 10day tokyo-kyoto-osaka-hokkaido when i was 25weeks along and the little bub loved it. i felt her first kick when we were ascending this super high mountain in a tram. i guess it was the first sign that she was gonna be a feisty one!
sounds super fun!! :)
I know what you mean. Had a whale of a time shopping at HK night markets the weekend before too. Came back even more tired than when we left for the short hols but totally worth it ;p Tk care of your 30-week belly you…

Exactly! Completely exhausted from the trip but it was a much needed break. Now I need a holiday from my holiday…
I am also the sort who think we should go for something more than just beach for our big belly trip – coz that’s probably going to our last trip for a long long time – before the endless breastfeeding and night wake-ups become routine of life. Ok actually we went to Phuket when I was 5 months pregnant but we were not contented just with the beach, we rented a motorbike and roamed around the entire island. Ok, not really something I would recommend though, for safety sake…..
Glad you have enjoyed your trip. Without the kids I presume. :-)

Hahah definitely without the kids!! I don’t think I’ll bring them to Bangkok until they turn 12. And motorcycle while pregnant??!! That’s hardcore
You should attach baby finn’s somogram to your sidebar!
We’ll probably just wait till he’s born to do a proper shoot… :)

Oh speaking of hotel, if you’re looking for one, we stayed at the Bangkok Loft Inn. Very clean and nice for S$45 a night. Unbelievable price.
