Top of the morning to you. I’m up early writing this because the kids are going to wake up in a bit and it’s going to be a mad house around here the rest of the day.
Truett is down with hand, foot and mouth disease (again!), which means that I’ll have 2 irritable, bored, non-schooling, hungry, whiny kids on my hands the next couple of days. Kirsten is technically not exhibiting symptoms of HFMD but given her proximity to the virus, there’s a pretty good chance she’s already infected so I’m keeping her away from school just in case.
The last time they got the virus, they didn’t eat for 3 days straight and pretty much spent those days grabbing their mouths and shrieking.
Totally understandable though because I would have done the same if I had a chain of 25 ulcers in my mouth. Ok, bollocks, just thinking about that makes my hair stand.
Good thing I bought a tub of ice-cream (for the kids) and stocked up on bubble tea (for me) last night. Looks like we’re going to need it.
Right then, have a terrific Wednesday and here’s hoping we get through the rest of the week unscathed.
I’m too tired to be funny or witty so here’s a photo of the kids playing doctor. Strangely enough, nobody finds that game fun when they are actually ill.

I know!! I have 1 ulcer and I make the husband look at it every 5 minutes. As in I literally show it to him and make him describe how big it is… it’s very cathartic.
Hope they get better soon! My babes got it in Feb which was a very mild strain (only mild spots on the hands + 2-3 ulcers in the mouth that cleared after 3 days)… hope this April strain is mild also…. take care~
This one doesn’t look so mild… Tru has more than 20 ulcers very poor thing
Sorrie to hear that. I jus nursed my todd to health and sent her back to childcare on mon. I myself am down w HFMD too. Ulcers in the throat is no fun. It’s like swallowing broken glass with every mouthful. U keep well :)
OMG that description is spot on…
Sorry to hear that Daphne, may they get well soon! Is it because of the hygiene at Childcare that kids tend to get affected quite easily? My baby is reaching 18mth soon but I think I will wait till she is older to send her to childcare, esp given that she is relatively small in size…
I think the childcare does try to keep the place clean but with that many kids running around, it’s impossible to be germ-free. I have 2 at home and it’s a nightmare keeping them apart. yeah if you have other options, it might be good to keep your girl at home a little longer
Quick recovery !
